The Amano brand was started in 2007 when founder & creative director Serena discovered that it was possible to make good quality, on trend, affordable fashion jewelry right here in the USA. She teamed up with East Coast manufacturers to do the heavy lifting like casting & stamping and built a team of craftswomen in Sonoma, California to assemble the jewelry. The metals they use are mostly recycled, and they also use vintage and salvaged components when possible. Design inspiration comes from the street and the runways and maybe most of all from the beauty of Serena's Sonoma home: the Valley of the Moon.

Amano jewelry is coated to resist tarnish and create a hypoallergenic surface. The symbol of a hand with an eye in the palm appears in many cultures and forms. Most commonly, the Hamsa symbol is for protection and to ward off the evil eye. These mystic hands were designed to represent creativity and the artistic connection between the hands and the eyes.
